Kate Blacklock

"My studio faces my garden, which I planted and have worked on for more than a dozen years. It is a continually changing painting, controlled by my hand as well as the uncontrollable forces of nature and the seasons. I spend time looking, up close. My photographs are born from these observations. I use a large format digital scanner to capture images of flowers in various stages and arrangements; some revealing their fragility and impermanence, while others are more abstract, reveling in their colors and textures."
