"Summer Storm/Bright Cloud” is a painting made from memory about riding out a huge downpour at the LSU Lakes many years ago. As the storm moved on, it left a mist of gloom when a brilliant white cloud appeared in the west. I saw it as a harbinger of good news for the sodden and muddy soil under my feet alongside the black lake. There have been many more storms to ride out, but none like this one. I relied on a fragment from 'Autumn Rain' by D. H. Lawrence to help focus things: “the cloud sheaves in heaven’s fields set droop and are drawn in falling seeds of rain, the seed of heaven on my face" - Edward Pramuk
